New England Adaptive is in the planning stages of running a pilot functional fitness program this fall in Arlington. MA.
The program will be in partnership with Adaptively Abled Amputees, Less Leg More Heart, Broadway Athletics, and Graviton Crossfit.
The goal of the program is to promote functional fitness training for people with disabilities in the New England area.
Sessions will develop the participant's strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination, speed, and timing for the purpose of increasing mobility and the ability to engage in activities of daily living and recreational pursuits.
The program will be six weeks long. It will train a total of eight athletes with limb loss, SCI/D, and neuromuscular disorders. Each athlete will be be paired with a personal trainer and assistant. The program will be held twice a week for two hours per session.
